Tilburg 380kV High-Voltage Substation
The construction of the new 380 kV high-voltage substation in Tilburg is a key project in tackling grid congestion and further strengthening the Dutch energy grid. Commissioned by Croonwolter&dros, Rhevolec made a valuable contribution to the preliminary phase, the supply of materials and the implementation of this project.
As a supplier and technical partner for high-voltage components, Rhevolec was involved from an early stage in the selection, engineering, supply and installation of primary installation materials. In doing so, Rhevolec contributed to an efficient construction process, reliable implementation and the smooth running of the project.

High-quality components for a reliable substation
For the Tilburg 380 kV project, Rhevolec supplied a wide range of primary high-voltage equipment, including:
- Substation terminals for 380 kV and 150 kV bays
- Insulator strings, known as V-strings
- Rail tubes
- Substation conductors
- Earthing boxes
The materials supplied meet the high standards required for TenneT projects, including the relevant SPEs. Where necessary, Factory Acceptance Tests were carried out to demonstrably ensure quality, conformity and reliability.
In addition to the supply, Rhevolec also provided technical and logistical project support. This process ran from the application phase through to final handover. Thanks to short lines of communication, open dialogue and close coordination with the parties involved, the project remained manageable and feasible.
Precision, planning and performance under high voltage
In a project of this scale, design, execution, logistics and quality are closely intertwined. The Tilburg 380kV high-voltage substation requires materials that meet TenneT’s stringent requirements and fit seamlessly within the substation’s technical design.
Planning also played a key role. The substation was built as part of an integrated project in which civil engineering, structural and electrical works had to be coordinated. The project involved, amongst other things, the use of prefabricated foundations and a ‘first time right’ approach to combine speed and quality. Transformers, coils, steel structures, high-voltage components and approximately 160 kilometres of cable were also part of the overall project delivery.
For Rhevolec, the challenge lay in supplying technically suitable, reliable components and actively supporting the process from the enquiry phase right through to implementation.
Involved at an early stage, technically well-thought-out
Rhevolec was closely involved in the project during the preparatory phase. Together with Croonwolter&dros, the team examined the correct selection, technical detailing and optimal integration of the primary installation materials.
All relevant materials were incorporated into the station’s 3D design. This enabled fit, suitability and assembly to be carefully coordinated in advance. This helped to minimise risks during implementation and ensure that on-site assembly proceeded as efficiently as possible.
In addition, Rhevolec actively contributed to the development and fulfilment of the end customer’s requirements. This early involvement ensured that technical feasibility, customer specifications and practical implementability were well aligned.

Working together towards a successful outcome
By combining technical expertise, reliable delivery and intensive project support, Rhevolec contributed to the smooth and successful completion of the Tilburg 380kV project.
Early involvement in the engineering phase, precise coordination during the 3D design stage and the supply of high-quality components ensured that the construction process could be carried out efficiently. In this way, Rhevolec’s approach aligned with the broader project philosophy: collaborating intelligently, ensuring quality and achieving ‘first time right’ wherever possible.
“By working closely together from the start of the project, combined with open communication and good availability during implementation, Rhevolec has demonstrably contributed to the project running smoothly and successfully.”
